Late-Term Ban a 'High Priority'

A bill proposing to ban late-term abortions is a "high priority" for President Donald Trump, according to one pro-life leader who met with him recently. It's a bill she's hoping the media will cover. On Tuesday, House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) held a press conference with pro-life leaders and politicians to announce an Oct. 3 vote on the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act in the U.S. House of Representatives. NY Attorney General Attacks Pro-Lifers

The Thomas More Society attorneys are defending a group of peaceful pro-life advocates from Queens against New York Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman in a federal lawsuit that accuses them of threats and violence against abortion clinic patients. Last week the Thomas More Society filed a motion to dismiss the New York Attorney General's lawsuit. The motion argues that the lawsuit is without merit because it is actually an assault on the First Amendment rights of pro-life sidewalk counselors. Read more...

EU Moves to 'Criminalise' Pro-Life Views

The European Parliament has been accused of trying to "criminalise" pro-life views after passing a report which describes reducing access to abortion as "violence against women and girls". The MEPs who authored the document denied the paper was an attack on "Christian values" or promoting a "liberal agenda", but appeared to conflate a rise in violence against women with the election of President Trump in the U.S. Read more...

Pro-Lifers Forced to Promote Abortion Clinics

Alliance Defending Freedom attorneys filed complaints with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services on behalf of pregnancy care centers and pro-life doctors in Illinois and Hawaii who are being forced to advertise for the abortion industry. The federal Church and Weldon amendments do not allow states which receive federal funding to compel medical personnel to operate contrary to their conscience or religious beliefs. ADF attorneys represent pregnancy care centers and physicians in both a state and federal lawsuit in Illinois and a federal lawsuit in Hawaii. So far, courts have issued injunctions against the forced-advertising law at issue in both Illinois cases. Read more...

Nurses Blocked From 'Reverse Abortion' Classes

Acting at the behest of abortion activists in the state legislature and online media, the Board of Nursing reversed its decision from just a month prior, sending Heartbeat International a letter to demand that the pro-life pregnancy help network "cease and desist" offering nurses continuing education units (CEUs) for Abortion Pill Reversal classes. The Board's sudden reversal seems a direct effort to deny a woman access to her own choice during an unexpected pregnancy, Heartbeat International president Jor-El Godsey said. Read more...

Satanists Join Missouri Abortion Battle

Missouri has reportedly doubled its abortion capacity this year "thanks to the Satanic Temple and Planned Parenthood," who have worked in tandem to fight the state's restrictions on abortion. With some of the most clearly defined regulations on abortion in the nation, Missouri had managed to lower the number of abortion facilities to a single clinic, but a second Missouri clinic opened its doors recently and two others plan on following soon. High Court to Weight Ohio's Regulations

The state's highest court has heard arguments about whether to keep open Toledo's only abortion clinic. And the case could affect Ohio's seven other clinics as well. In Toledo, none of the local hospitals or medical facilities could or would enter into an agreement with Capital Care Center, the only abortion provider in that city. So that abortion clinic signed on to a transfer agreement with a nearby Michigan hospital. The state concluded that was too far away and in 2014, the Ohio Department of Health ordered the clinic to close. Two lower courts have ruled the clinic could stay open. And now it's up to the Ohio Supreme Court to decide the case. Read more...

California Nixes Pro-Abortion License Plates

A bill authorizing the California government to create pro-abortion license plates to benefit the abortion industry died in committee this month. The California Pro-Life Council celebrated the victory over the weekend after working hard to stop the pro-abortion bill. Brian Johnston, executive director of the pro-life group, said the bill would have sent more taxpayer dollars to the abortion industry, which already receives huge amounts of money from the government. Trial Could Close Kentucky's Last Clinic

Kentucky's "unapologetically pro-life" governor and the state's last abortion clinic squared off in a federal courtroom in a case that could make it the first US state without an abortion provider. In a three-day trial, the state will argue before a US District judge in Louisville that EMW Women's Surgical Center does not have proper state-required agreements with a hospital and an ambulance service in case of medical emergencies. Congress Fails to Defund Planned Parenthood

Pro-life leaders wrote a letter to members of Congress on Tuesday, rebuking them for not keeping their campaign promises and imploring them to defund Planned Parenthood once and for all. Six leading women and four influential men among the nation's top pro-life activists reminded legislators that America gave them their positions in part because they promised to defund the nation's largest and most lucrative abortion conglomerate. Ireland's 8th Amendment Saved 100,000 Lives

September 7 marks the 34th anniversary of the passage of the 8th Amendment. Pro Life Campaign spokesperson, Cora Sherlock said it's an opportunity to "celebrate the lives saved by the Amendment." She said: "The number of people alive today thanks to the 8th Amendment is something that receives far too little attention. According to an independently produced actuarial report last year, there are, at a conservative estimate, 100,000 people alive today in Ireland as a direct result of the 8th Amendment. That's an amazing thing that deserves to be front and centre in the current debate on abortion. Read more...

Pro-Abort Judge Fines Daleiden $200K

An abortion activist federal judge is slapping pro-life advocate David Daleiden and his lawyers with nearly $200,000 in fines for contempt of court. Federal Judge William H. Orrick ruled on August 31 that Daleiden and his lawyers, Steve Cooley and Brentford Ferreira, must pay up $195,359 to the National Abortion Federation (NAF). On July 17, Orrick held the three in contempt of court for releasing videos he blocked in 2015 after the NAF claimed members would face harassment, intimidation and violence from pro-life advocates if they were released. Abuse of Women: Coerced Abortions

Although some within the abortion industry acknowledge the problem of coerced abortion, abortion supporters downplay the scope of the problem by focusing almost exclusively on women who face pressure not to abort. Abortion proponents are known to allude to force and coercion in the context of abortion restrictions and their effects. Activists dressed as characters from The Handmaid's Tale have recently taken to protesting legislative hearings on abortion restrictions; they claim that pro-life laws are no different from the forced breeding program described in Margaret Atwood's dystopian novel. Canadian Pro-Life Attack Backfires

An attempt by abortion activists and Justin Trudeau's Liberal government to stop their pro-life work backfired, a leading Canadian pro-life activist group says. The Liberal government cut summer job grant funding to several pro-life groups in May, including the Canadian Centre for Bioethical Reform."But essentially we just trusted if we were frank about what we needed, our donors would come though, and Canadians pro-lifers who recognize the value of our work would come and help us and they did," Jonathon Van Maren said. Effort to Redefine 'Pro-Life' Fails

In order to deal with the dissonance of being a member of the Democratic Party, these pro-life Democrats have tried to redefine the term “pro-life.” They suggest that conservatives are not pro-life, because they do not support spending bills to increase social programs for the poor in our society. They argue that truly pro-life individuals must be concerned about the 4-year-old and the 40-year-old, and not just the developing fetus. Read more...
